more character write up because aselia says nothing useful:
Chalcedony Akerman, Order of the Valentin Crystal Knights. He's the son of the High Priest Akerman and at birth he was appointed to be Empress Paraiba's knight in arms. He grew up learning the ways of the sword and he was enlisted into knighthood. Initially he comes off to the party as antagonistic because he attempts to collect Kohaku's Spiria shards for his own purposes and reasons. Chalcedony plays the part of being Kor Meteor's rival and then later his friend. He's the commanding officer of the thirteenth unit and affiliated with the Valentin faith at first. His loyal and trustworthy subordinate knights are Peridot Harmotome and Pyrox Ferro. Chalcedony orders them to pursue Kor Meteor and his company. He wishes to learn the truth behind the despir attacks and rampaging beasts that terrorize the people. Chalcedony typically acts independently away from the main party because he handles himself in accordance with the tradition of the knights. His Soma originally belonged to Kohaku's mother Iola. It was stolen by the church during an attack and later passed down to Chalcedony.
He scouts the perimeter of Hanselar with his ability of flight and immediately comes in to rescue Kor's party. It is a knight's sworn duty to protect the weak. Chalcedony fends off some monsters and doesn't even ask for thanks because it's his job to help people. Peridot sees an opportunity to kidnap Kohaku for her own gains. Seeing her actions as cowardly Chalcedony punishes her because it’s unbefitting for a knight to behave with such mannerisms. He apologizes for his subordinates' actions and sees to it that it’ll never happen again. He’s always true to his word and allows Kor Meteor’s party to go free without much hassle in return.
Chalcedony is seen again in Straga. It’s noted that he’s in possession of Kohaku’s shard of anger. The group initiates a Spiria Link with him in order to get her shard back. A Spiria Link occurs when individuals enter a Spiria Nexus. This can happen by using a Soma and allows the user to see into someone’s soul in a literal sense. During the Spiria Link it’s learned that Chalcedony is friends with the Empress Paraiba. The army’s knights are summoned to arrest Chalcedony for treason against the empress due to a misunderstanding. Peridot and Pyrox escape to Prinseur while a war between the church and army grows in tension.
He promises to hand over Kohaku's shards if Kor can best him in a duel. After losing the battle he returns the shard to Kor. He admits defeat and then pardons them for their crimes. The High Priest Akerman sees these actions as cowardly and unbefitting of someone like Chalcedony. Deeming his own son as a failure he orders punishment to be set out for Chalcedony's insubordination. He is charged with the attack on Empress Paraiba's life. Peridot suggests to turn in Kor Meteor and his friends to the High Priest so that they may testify to Chalcedony's innocence. He readily accepts the punishment he is due to receive. Prinseur is under attack by Xeroms possessed soldiers so Kor’s group decides to team up with Chalcedony to fend them off. They saved the kids from the orphanage but couldn't save the church from the army. Peridot and Pyrox surrendered to the army so that Chalcedony could escape unharmed. From this point onwards he travels with Kor’s party because they have similar destinations.
With Straga going under siege the citizens go under lockdown. The army demands Chalcedony’s presence at Straga and if he doesn’t show up they’ll execute Peridot and Pyrox. Once he learns this he abandons the group and charges ahead to save his subordinates from their troubles. Kor’s company follows him to Straga and they happen to save him in the nick of time. Chalcedony insists on going alone but he finally accepts his newfound companionship.
Personality:
Chalcedony Akerman is first and foremost a knight. He carries himself with the mannerisms of a proper knight and upholds his duties seriously. Even though Chalcedony is only sixteen years old he’s accomplished many things and quickly found himself leading the Thirteenth Unit. He’s been known to come off as stiff and formal by his demeanor making him seem older than he initially appears. Chalcedony is wise beyond his years when it comes to matters such as politics and knighthood. His skill with the sword is even noted by Gall who happens to be a veteran Soma user. Chalcedony is the sort of man who prioritizes his duty and he can come off as overtly serious. Since Chalcedony places his duty above all else it may be difficult to get a read on his character. He seems distant and aloof not to mention he's easily misunderstood. When Kor Meteor's group first encounters him he gives off a bad impression. He speaks with a condescending tone and he's heavily criticized for it. The Crystal Knights have a reputation of just doing things without properly looking over the facts. Needless to say, Chalcedony looks like he's all talk and has nothing to back it up. He walks around wearing knightly armor but he can't even do basic things such as cleaning or cooking. He has a fear of bugs although Chalcedony himself would never admit to it.
The first thing that people tend to notice about Chalcedony is his temper. He may appear to be calm and composed on the surface but he's been known to blow a fuse over minor things. Chalcedony lacks patience and can't stand it when go against his personal creed. He's easily agitated by common foot soldiers and challenges them with his Soma in the middle of a populated city. When Chalcedony gets angry Beryl mentions how he seems even scarier than Xeroms or any monster they've previously encountered. He's been known to become aggressive and resort to violence when he can no longer just sit around and wait. He challenges Incarose to a battle even when the odds are against him because he finds it difficult to back down from a fight. Chalcedony can be stubborn and reckless because of it.
He believes in honesty and duty. Chalcedony would never tell a lie on purpose and he values truth. He's frustrated when he learns that the army and the church have been lying to the public for their own benefit. Chalcedony even condemns his own father for resorting to cowardly tactics and points his blade at him. He puts the needs of others before his own and will not hesitate to fight for what's right. Chalcedony leaves the church so that he can focus on defending the people on his own merits. During his travels with Kor Meteor's company, he learns the value of friendship and teamwork. Chalcedony learns how to do things with an open mind and be more receptive to other people's opinions. He stops running ahead alone and actually stops to consider the consequences of his actions more. His growth is even noted by his subordinates who see just how far Chalcedony has come along as an individual. The strength of his heart is measured in his Soma as well when Warheit evolves into Reinheit allowing his soul to manifest in a physical form.
It would be impossible to talk about Chalcedony's life without mentioning Paraiba Tourmaline. She's both the empress and his lover. Chalcedony wanted to become a knight that would be worthy of protecting Paraiba. He tries to take up her burdens to the best of his ability. From the very beginning he believed that he should be reliable and strong enough to defend what he holds dear. Chalcedony takes this to an extreme because he's hard on himself. He's quick to take the blame for things that aren't necessarily his fault and shoulders a heavy burden. He becomes agitated at his own weakness and failures. When his subordinates fail at their missions he feels that he's also failed as a man and a knight. He wants to take responsibility and act with courage but he's tends to overwork himself to the point of exhaustion as well.
It is true that Chalcedony has a lot of flaws but he's always seeking to improve himself. He wishes to be dependable and competent at his work. If he's given more time then he would eventually mature into a proper leader and defender. Chalcedony is set to become the next Lord of the empire so there are still plenty of things he needs to learn.

Abilities & Inventory:
This is tales of hearts. Chalcedony can use the power of his heart and have his soul take on the form of a weapon otherwise known as a Soma.
Chalcedony's Soma Wahrheit enables him to fly with wings. He's capable of flying up into the air but even that has limitations as he can't carry more than one person at a time. His flight based abilities allow him to engage in aerial combat and defy gravity for a period of time. His Soma has a secondary form called Reinheit where he can call forth an airship. Look, I understand this sounds ridiculous so I'm willing to completely nerf him and render Reinheit unusable while he's in Songerein.
In battle he has access to an arsenal of artes that make him a formidable warrior. Chalcedony can use some holy, healing, and thunder based artes. His Soma grants him the power to heal moderate to severe injuries.
Suitability & Plans:
Chalcedony is a somatic and his abilities may be particularly useful to songerein's setting. He's already used to experiencing battle so he'd be more than prepared for that situation. It's in his nature to help others and defend the weak. Chalcedony won't hesitate to use his knowledge and skills to aid his new friends.
Having castmates is not a requirement but seeing as how Kor Meteor is already in the game Chalcedony would accompany him on missions and quests from the dream board.
